Brock community reminded to properly dispose of medication

Brock University’s Student Health and Wellness is encouraging all students, staff and faculty to return their unused or expired medication to pharmacies.

Medication, including those in liquid form and inhalers, can be returned to Student Health Services (Harrison Hall) until Thursday, Dec. 19 at 4 p.m. and at the Campus Pharmacy (605 Glenridge Ave. #9) from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, with the exception of holiday hours:

  • Monday, Dec. 23 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Dec. 24 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Closed Wednesday, Dec. 25, Thursday, Dec. 26 and Wednesday, Jan. 1
  • Tuesday, Dec. 31 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Julie Fennell, Health Promotion Educator for Student Health and Wellness, says that any pharmacy will safely and properly dispose of any medication at no cost.

“It’s important for everyone’s health and safety that people aren’t using each other’s medication or taking medication that’s expired,” she said. “It’s also bad for the environment to flush pills down the toilet.”
