Thesis defences — Dec. 2 to Dec. 6

The following is a list of thesis defences taking place at Brock from Monday, Dec. 2 to Friday, Dec. 6.

All are open for the University community to attend.

PhD Education thesis defence

Laura Lane, a PhD candidate in the Department of Educational Studies, will defend her thesis titled “Facebooking for Feminism: Social Network Sites as Feminist Learning Spaces” on Monday, Dec. 2 at 10 a.m. in Welch Hall 147.

The examination committee members are Nancy Taber, Supervisor; Susan Tilley and Paul Berger, Advisory Committee; Leona English, External Examiner (St. Francis Xavier University); Shauna Pomerantz, Internal Examiner; Wendy Ward, Chair.

PhD Education thesis defence

Jeffrey Allen Irvine, a PhD candidate in the Department of Educational Studies, will defend his thesis titled “Investigating the Impact of Lessons Based on Marzano’s Theory of Learning on Student Attitude, Engagement, and Achievement in Grade 10 Academic Mathematics” on Monday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. in Welch Hall 147.

PhD of Chemistry thesis defence

Daler Baidilov, a PhD candidate in the Department of Chemistry, will defend his thesis titled “Chemoenzymatic Formal Total Syntheses of Tetrodotoxin and Synthetic Approach to Daphenylline” on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 11 a.m. in GSB 208.

PhD Social Sciences thesis defence

Tabitha Methot-Jones, a PhD candidate in the Faculty of Social Sciences, will defend her thesis titled “INHUMAN TARGETS: Psychopathy, Dehumanization, and Sexist and Violent Attitudes Towards Women” on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 10 a.m. in Welch Hall 147.
