Wine fest and alumni make perfect pairing

Is there any better way to spend the Grape and Wine Festival than with fellow Brock alumni while enjoying exceptional views with equally exceptional food and wine?

Alumni interested in attending Brock Night at the Festival are encouraged to purchase tickets for the Sept. 21 event during Homecoming Weekend before it’s too late.

The popular event has sold out the past two years and offers a unique venue for Brock alumni to reconnect with friends and colleagues, celebrate class reunions and enjoy one of Canada’s oldest and largest wine festivals from the best view in Montebello Park.

Hosted in the festival’s beautiful VIP Harvest Lounge, registered attendees will have exclusive access to the pavilion from 5 to 7 p.m. where they can enjoy a mouth-watering appetizer buffet paired with a complimentary glass of VQA wine selected by Niagara Winemakers in a commemorative festival glass for only $25. The private space will also host alumni celebrating milestone anniversaries with their alma mater.

“We are pleased to offer our alumni an exclusive space at the Niagara Wine Festival to connect with old friends, make new memories and enjoy the added benefits of being a Brock alumnus,” says Shelley Huxley, Director, Alumni Relations.

For many alumni, Brock Night has become an annual affair that offers an elevated experience of the signature festival in Niagara.

“I’ve attended Brock Night at the Niagara Grape and Wine Festival for the past two years,” says Kristen Nilsen (BBA ’12, MEd ’18), Career Consultant, Co-op, Career and Experiential Education – Career Education, Goodman. “The event has a great vibe. There’s always a group of great people who attend and you usually bump into familiar faces you haven’t seen in a while.”

For the first time since its inception in 2017, Brock Night ticket holders will also have access to the Sommelier Lounge and new Wine Garden Lounge during the festival after 5 p.m. on Sept. 21.

Attendees can enjoy an upscale experience in the Sommelier Lounge, which features premium VQA wines and sparkling wines in an al fresco wine café set in the historic Montebello Bandshell, or stop and smell the roses while sipping premium and back vintage VQA wines in the Wine Garden Lounge.

All three lounge areas at the Niagara Grape and Wine Festival include access to premium bars featuring VQA wines, comfortable lounge seating, prime views of the Main Stage and private VIP washrooms.

“The location at the wine festival gives a great vantage point and view of the park, and the pavilion lounge setup means lots of seating for everyone there, and space to mix and mingle,” says Nilsen. “You avoid having to wait in the lines at the individual wineries, which is a plus, and you can come and go easily if you want to explore the park.”

Brock alumni and friends are encouraged to register for the Brock Night event by Tuesday, Sept. 17.
