Mosquito larvicide control to begin next week

Beginning Thursday, July 4, Brock University will be conducting its annual larviciding program under the authority of Niagara Region’s medical officer of health.

The program, which will continue until Sept. 27, is used to control larval mosquitoes and to prevent the possible spread of West Nile virus.

The larvicide Mosquiron will be applied by direct hand application into catch basins at Brock University-owned and leased properties in Niagara.

All larvicides will be applied by licensed applicators through the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks.

For details on the exact locations and dates of treatments, contact Manager of Grounds Services John Dick at jdick@brocku.ca or x4435, or Facilities Management customer service at fm@brocku.ca or x3717.
