On-campus event offers chance to try parasports

Members of the Brock community are invited to try their hand at a number of parasports during an event held on campus Saturday, June 1.

Hosted by the Brock Niagara Penguins, a local parasport program for youth and adults with a physical disability, the Try Parasport Event will be held in Brock’s Gym 2 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Participants will be able to attempt three of the seven parasports the Penguins offer: wheelchair basketball, boccia and sitting volleyball.

The Try Parasport Event is part of the ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge, an annual initiative that aims to get neighbourhoods moving together and awards $150,000 to Canada’s most active community.

The first 40 people to register by Friday, May 24 will have a chance to win a prize.
