Prom attire needed to support community project

Start your spring cleaning early and help local high school students attend their prom in style.

Brock’s Student Life and Community Experience is again partnering with the Education Foundation of Niagara to collect gently used dresses, suits, shoes, accessories and other formal attire to give to local teens as part of Prom Project Niagara.

Prakisha Pradhan, Student Life and Community Experience’s Community Outreach and Volunteer Assistant, said the donated items help to ensure all students are able to attend their prom, while also reinforcing Brock’s commitment to the community.

“Collecting gently used clothing allows the Brock community to help students who might not otherwise be able to afford a prom outfit, while also contributing to a sustainable initiative that benefits schools and students across Niagara,” she said. “Last year we received more than 50 items and we are hoping to get even more this time around.”

Donations will be accepted until Friday, March 15 in the Student Life and Involvement Commons (MCA 204) from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Donated items will then be distributed to local high school students during three events on Saturday, April 6 at DSBN Academy in St. Catharines, Beamsville District Secondary School and Fort Erie Race Track.
