Celebrate the solstice with Rodman Hall Arts Centre

The public is invited to celebrate the longest night of the year and the return of the sun with Rodman Hall Arts Centre this year.

A free, family-friendly lantern making workshop will be held at Rodman Hall on Saturday, Dec. 15 from 2 to 4 p.m. The public are invited to create paper lanterns under the guidance of artists Alexa Fraser and Daya Lye in preparation for the Winter Solstice Lantern Parade at the Arts Centre. All materials required for lantern making will be provided.

Solstice celebrations on Friday, Dec. 21 will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and include a lantern parade, bonfire, music and a shadow-play presented by Carousel players. Bring your own lanterns, noise-makers and instruments to join in the parade. Snacks, cider, coffee and cookies will be provided.

The solstice celebration is presented in partnership with Carousel Players, popcommedia.com, The Enormous Elsewhere, Daya Lye and is inspired by the Kensington Market Festival of Lights.
