Indoor rooftop exhibit to open at Rodman Hall

The public is invited to take an indoor rooftop stroll while exploring the latest exhibit at Rodman Hall Art Centre.

Northern Oracle, by artist Heather Hart, consists of a rooftop installation with an interior attic space emerging from the gallery floor. The installation is accompanied by a series of mixed media drawings.

Visitors to the exhibition, which opens Thursday, Nov. 1, are invited to contemplate ideas of home and physical space while walking on the rooftop and inside the attic itself.

The installation considers black histories, the importance of having a place to call home and access to ownership.

Inside the attic is the “Oracle,” where visitors are encouraged to leave behind offerings to create a shrine of the Niagara region.

In addition to opportunities for audience participation, a variety of performances, lectures and workshops will be found throughout the exhibition to enhance its environment.

The public is invited to hear Hart speak about her work during Northern Oracle’s opening on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. The exhibition will be at Rodman Hall until March 3, 2019.
