Canada Games Torch Run coming to Brock

Niagara’s turn to host the Canada Games is still three years away, but the Torch Relay for the 2019 Games will soon arrive at Brock University.

The MNP Torch Relay will come through St. Catharines on Saturday, Oct. 20 as it makes its way west for the 2019 Canada Games in Red Deer Feb. 15 to March 3.

Staff, faculty, students and alumni are encouraged to put on their red Brock gear and come out to cheer on the runners along the St. Catharines route. Everyone is also invited to celebrate the arrival of the Canada Games torch on the Brock campus.

The Torch Relay kicks off downtown at 10 a.m. with a torch lighting held at Market Square. From there, the route will take the torch out of downtown and onto Glenridge Ave., where it will head south to Brock’s Lot V in Zone 2, located at the corner of Merrittville Hwy. and Sir Isaac Brock Blvd. South.

The torch is expected to arrive at Brock at around 11:30 a.m., when a celebration will be held with brief remarks and music. A complimentary light lunch will be provided to those who attend, but please RSVP by Monday, Oct. 15 to vwikston@2021canadagames.ca
