Thesis defences — Sept. 24 to 28

The following is a list of thesis defences taking place at Brock from Sept. 24 to 28.

All are open for the University community to attend.

Master of Science thesis defences

Fazle Tanjil, a MSc candidate in the Department of Computer Science, will present his thesis, “Deep Learning Concepts for Evolutionary Art,” on Monday, Sept. 24 at 11 a.m. in Welch Hall 147.

His examination committee members are Cheryl McCormick, Chair; James Hughes, External Examiner (St. Francis Xavier University); Brian Ross, Supervisor; and Beatrice Ombuki-Berman and Sheridan Houghten, Committee Members.

Setareh Shekarsaraei, a MSc candidate in the Chemistry Department, will present her thesis, “Transient Electron Paramagnetic Resonance Spectroscopy on Photosystem I Reaction Centers,” via video conference on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 1 p.m. in Welch Hall 147.

Her examination committee members are Cheryl McCormick, Chair; K. V. Lakshmi, External Examiner (St. Francis Xavier University); Art van der Est, Supervisor; and Heather Gordon and Melanie Pilkington, Committee Members.

Khatma Milah, a MSc candidate in the Chemistry Department, will present her thesis, “Synthesis of 3ʹ, 5ʹ-cyclic Diguanylic Acid (c-di-GMP) as Mucosal Vaccine Adjuvant and Bacterial Second Messenger,” via video conference on Friday, Sept. 28 at 1 p.m. in Welch Hall 147. 

Her examination committee members are Cheryl McCormick, Chair; Chris Wilds, External Examiner (Concordia University); Tony Yan, Supervisor; and Martin Lemaire and Tomas Hudlicky, Committee Members.
