Workshop to focus on SSHRC Insight Grants

An upcoming workshop will provide researchers with valuable funding application information.

Researchers interested in learning more about applying for an Insight Grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) or receiving feedback on their existing applications are invited to attend an upcoming workshop hosted by the Office of Research Services.

The SSHRC Insight Grant Workshop is planned for Monday, Aug. 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Room 207 of the Cairns Family Health and Bioscience Research Complex.

The session will provide an overview of SSHRC’s Insight funding and will distinguish Insight Grants from Insight Development Grants.

Successful Insight Grant recipients will share their experiences and offer suggestions for a successful application. Participants will also have an opportunity to ask program- and application-related questions.

Peer reviewers, as well as those interested in contributing drafts of their SSHRC Insight Grant applications, are needed for the workshop.

Reviewers will assess Insight Grant applications and provide feedback to applicants at the upcoming event or at a time convenient to them. Past, current and future Insight Grant applicants are encouraged to consider this opportunity.

Faculty members interested in reviewing or contributing an Insight Grant application draft for the workshop are asked to email Rachel Hirsch at rhirsch@brocku.ca.

The Office of Research Services will arrange applicant/reviewer matches. Applications must be sent to reviewers no later than Aug. 20.

Faculty members interested in reviewing or contributing applications, who are unable to attend the workshop, are asked to email Hirsch by Sept. 24.

The workshop will include a lunch where matched mentor and applicant pairs will have the opportunity to meet in person and share feedback on application drafts exchanged in advance.

All eligible researchers who are considering applying for SSHRC Insight Grants within the next several years are encouraged to attend the session.

Participants are asked to RSVP to orsadmin@brocku.ca.
