Thesis defences — Aug. 27 to 31

The following is a list of thesis defences taking place at Brock from Aug. 27 to 31.

All are open for the University community to attend.

Master of Education thesis defences

Education student Ana Vintan will defend the thesis “Collaboration to Support ESL Instruction on Monday, Aug. 27 at 10 a.m. in WH 147.

The examination committee includes Michael O’Sullivan, Chair; Farahnaz Faez, External Examiner (Western University); Tiffany Gallagher, Supervisor; and Diane Collier and Deborah Yeager, Committee Members.

Education student Helen Liu will defend the thesis “Impact of Video Games on Gender Socialization and Identity in Early Adolescence” on Thursday, Aug. 30 at 2 p.m. in WH 147.

Health and Physical Education MA thesis defence

Faculty of Applied Health Sciences student Caleb Chee will defend the thesis “Pre-service Teachers’ Understanding and Interpretation of Social Interaction as Part of a Meaningful Physical Education Experience” on Monday, Aug. 27 from 9 a.m. to noon in Walker Complex 203.

Health Sciences MSc thesis defences

Faculty of Applied Health Sciences student Michael Yousef will defend the thesis “Assessment of the Effects of Rosemary Extract on Mast-mediated Allergic Inflammation” on Monday, Aug. 27 from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Academic South 361.

The examination committee members are Adam MacNeil and Evangelia Tsiani, Co-Supervisors; Rebecca MacPherson, Advisory Committee; Alan Castle, External Examiner (Brock University); and Wendy Ward, Chair.

Faculty of Applied Health Sciences student Hesham Shamshoun will defend the thesis “Effects of Rosemary Extract and Rosemary Extract Polyphenols on Skeletal Muscle Insulin Resistance” on Friday, Aug. 31 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Academic South.

Applied Disability Studies MA thesis defences

Department of Applied Disability Studies student Krysten Thompson will defend the thesis “Speech Associated with the Use of Speech Generating Devices with Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder: A Comparison of Two Treatment Conditions” on Aug. 27 at 1:30 p.m. in WH 147

Department of Applied Disability Studies student Adam Carter will defend the thesis “Displacement of One Stimulus Class Over Another Stimulus Class: A Systematic Replication” on Aug. 29 at 10 a.m. in WH 147

Department of Applied Disability Studies student Sarah Davis will defend the thesis “Evaluation of Behavioural Skills Training with Volunteers Teaching Motor Skills to Individuals with Developmental Disabilities” on Aug. 31 at 9 a.m. in WH 147.

Critical Sociology MA thesis defence

Critical Sociology student Karly Rath will defend the thesis “Constructed Ignorance and Inevitable Resistance: Our Knowledge of the Clitoris” on Aug. 28 at 2 p.m. in WH 147.
