Cheechoo to give keynote address at White Privilege Conference

Brock University Chancellor Shirley Cheechoo will deliver a keynote address at the White Privilege Conference – Global Thursday morning in Toronto.

First held in Iowa in 1999, the White Privilege Conference is designed to bring people together to have honest conversations about issues surrounding race and diversity. The Conference was held outside of the U.S. for the first time in 2016, when Brock hosted the event.

As she did at the 2016 White Privilege Symposium here at Brock, Cheechoo will give a keynote address at Ryerson University in Toronto Thursday, May 10 at 10 a.m.

This year’s White Privilege Conference runs from Wednesday to Saturday and includes workshops, presentations, film screenings and a special banquet Friday night to celebrate the debut of the Canadian $10 bill featuring Viola Desmond, the first black woman to be featured on a regularly circulating Bank of Canada note.
