Hai Lu, Professor of Accounting at University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management and Editor of Contemporary Accounting Research, will visit Brock’s Goodman School of Business this week to present his research on companies’ use of Twitter to make financial disclosures.

Hai Lu, Professor of Accounting at University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management.

Lu will present his latest co-authored research paper called, “Discretionary Disclosure on Twitter,” which researches how and when companies choose to disclose information on Twitter.

The research is among the first to study the choices companies make when it comes to disclosing information through Twitter.

At the end of the research paper, the authors recommend to managers that they should use discretion about the level, timing and format of their messaging when tweeting any type of disclosure.

In its 12th year, Goodman’s Luncheon Speaker Series provides an informal and engaging opportunity to listen and discuss recent advances in research, teaching and practices with colleagues internationally.

The event is being held in TH 253 Friday, March 9 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Space is limited. Goodman faculty, staff and graduate students are invited to attend. Brock community members wishing to attend can email Jennifer Brisson at jbrisson@brocku.ca to reserve a seat.
