Bats spotted on campus not to be touched

It may be the extreme cold snaps we’ve had this winter, but there have been several sightings of bats inside campus buildings this month.

The latest report came this week after a sighting in the Cairns Complex. Other sightings have come from the Mackenzie Chown Complex.

While the flying mammals generally pose little danger to humans, Campus Security warns that people should not try to pick up or otherwise handle any bats they may encounter sleeping or hibernating in campus locations.

If you do spot a bat in a Brock building, please report it to Campus Security at x3200, or to Facilities Management at x3717.
