Four-year-old Sakai sites to be deleted

The Brock University community is being advised that beginning Feb. 1, Isaak-Sakai course sites that are four years of age or older will be deleted.

Isaak-Sakai adhoc sites that have not been modified in four years will also be deleted.

This process is being initiated in order to reduce the University’s data footprint, establish a records management process and decrease the resources required to operate the system. This process is also being undertaken to limit legal discovery and freedom of information searches to a reasonable and standardized period and will limit the amount of personal information that could be exposed in the event of a privacy breach.

Older Isaak-Sakai site content can be copied into newer sites or exported from key tools. Steps on how to export content have been documented online.

Should instructors wish to retain site content, the Centre for Pedagogical Innovation (CPI) is available to help retrieve, export and/or copy all of their data.

More information about the scheduled deletion of courses is available at lms.brocku.ca/x/RwSPVp. Questions and support requests can be directed to CPI at edtech@brocku.ca
