Brock’s first Health, Safety and Wellness Champion crowned

Karl Thorp, of Campus Security Services, is being recognized for his contributions to health, safety and wellness at Brock.

The senior platoon supervisor was named the inaugural winner of the Health, Safety and Wellness Champion Award for 2016-17 and was recognized during the Employee Wellness Day opening plenary on Thursday, June 15.

Some of Thorp’s contributions include:

  • Championing and advocating for women’s self-defence training, including completion of instructor training to deliver self-defence training on campus
  • Implementation of programs and processes to improve Campus Security statistics
  • Advocating for healthy living, keeping fit and the importance of proper nutrition
  • Eagerness to assist and support others in the area of health, safety and wellness

Thorp’s commitment to health, safety and wellness supports Brock’s core values and strategic priority to be a preferred place to work and study.
