New External Relations unit embraces several departments

President and Vice-Chancellor Tom Traves today announced a re-alignment of the University’s organizational structure to enhance Brock’s external outreach efforts.

Effective immediately, the offices of Development and Alumni Relations, Marketing and Communications, and Government and Community Relations will come together into one division, reporting directly to the President and Vice-Chancellor.

“Together, these functions will be better able to build integrated outreach strategies, strengthening the Brock brand and reputation amongst our external stakeholders and audiences,” Traves said in an email to the Brock community.

Gord Hunchak, Executive Director of Marketing and Communications, will lead the new division, taking on the role of Associate Vice-President, External Relations (interim). Hunchak joined Brock in 2015, and has led a re-launch of Brock’s brand platform and implemented several integrated marketing and communications strategies to support Brock’s strategic initiatives and student recruitment efforts.

Development and Alumni Relations, led by Pam Shanks, and the Marketing and Communications team will report directly into the AVP, External Relations. Government and Community Relations, led by Meaghan Rusnell, will continue to have a primary reporting line to the President’s office, but with an operational reporting line to the AVP, External Relations.
