Multi-use path, improved lighting coming to Merrittville Hwy.

A construction project to make the roads around Brock University safer for cyclists and walkers is set to resume.

Last year, the Province of Ontario, the City of Thorold, the Niagara Region and Brock University announced a partnership to build a network of bike lanes and paths that would stretch from the Confederation Heights neighbourhood to the Brock campus.

The first phase of that project saw Decew Rd. reconstructed from Richmond Street to Merrittville Hwy. last year.

The next phase of the project underway that will see a multi-use path and improved lighting installed on Merrittville Hwy. between Decew Rd. and Sir Isaac Brock Way is now getting underway.

The project, which is being built by Rankin Construction, is expected to be completed by the end of June.
