T-shirt Design Challenge underway at Campus Store

Students with a creative eye have a chance to make their mark on Brock fashion this month.

The Campus Store has launched its second annual Design Challenge and is calling for T-shirt design submissions.

Entries must be sent to campusstore@brocku.ca by Monday, March 20 for the chance to earn a coveted spot on the shelves at the Campus Store this September.

The chosen artist will receive 10 free shirts. Twelve per cent of the revenue generated by the winning design will be donated to a charity or club on campus of the winner’s choice.

Leona Yiu, a Goodman School of Business MBA student, was the winner of last year’s contest with her “Keep Calm and Brock On” design that has been featured at the Campus Store since September 2016.

After design entries are submitted, members of the Brock community will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite shirt during the Would U Rep It? Design Event.

The initiative allows students, staff and faculty to vote on potential products being considered for the store — including the contest entries.

Spring is when the store’s buyers are busy canvassing clients for input and making purchasing decisions for next year, said Director Dan Lewis.

“We want to continue to bring in products and designs that resonate with the Brock community,” he said.  “Last year’s design event significantly influenced our decisions on what was brought into the store based on the voting results.”

Potential products and designs will be on display at the Would U Rep It? Design Event on Thursday, March 23 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Free slices of pizza (while quantities last) will be offered at the event beginning at noon.

Draws will also take place for a chance to win clothing for a year, and for two smart TVs.

A buy one, get one half off sale will be offered on select clothing.

All branding and contest details are available at CampusStore.brocku.ca/designchallenge
