About 50 swimmers took an icy winter dip in Brock University’s parking lot Wednesday.
A pool was set up in Parking Lot P for the inaugural Polar Plunge in support of Special Olympics Ontario, which was hosted by the University in partnership with Niagara Regional Police.
About $15,000 was raised to support the upcoming Special Olympics School Championships taking place June 12 to 14 at Brock and other St. Catharines venues.
The event will draw up to 800 high school-aged athletes, who will compete in basketball, bocce, floor hockey, soccer and track and field.
