Math & Science PhD thesis defences

Two Math & Science PhD candidates will defend their theses next week.

Chemistry PhD candidate Van Hung Mai will defend his thesis Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 9 a.m. in CRN207. His thesis is titled Half-sandwich Complexes of Ruthenium Supported by N-Heterocyclic Carbene Ligands: Synthesis and Application to Catalysis.

His examination committee members are: Dr. David Ditor, Chair; Dr. R. Tom Baker (University of Ottawa), External Examiner; Dr. Georgii Nikonov, Supervisor; Dr. Kirill Samokhin, Internal Examiner; Dr. Martin Lemaire and Dr. Heather Gordon; Committee Members.

Abdelbaset Yagubi in Biological Sciences will defend his PhD thesis Friday, Feb. 24 at 9 a.m. in CRN207. His thesis is titled Phage-mediated biological control of Erwinia amylovora: The role of CRISPRs and exopolysaccharide.

His examination committee members are: Dr. Adam MacNeil, Chair; Dr. Jeffrey Jones (University of Florida), External Examiner; Dr. Alan Castle and Dr. Antonet Svircev, Supervisors; Dr. Ana Sanchez, Internal Examiner; Dr. Charles Despres and Dr. Ping Liang; Committee Members.
