Random Acts of Kindness at Brock Friday

Friday is Random Acts of Kindness Day and Brock University is celebrating with a number of activities.

The following is a list of ways Brock students are participating:

  • Flower Deliveries – Student Life will be delivering flowers to local neighbours and community homes.
  • Captain Kindness – Captain Kindness will be dressed in a morph suit and spread Pay-It-Forward cards and treats across campus from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Senior administration will be handing out snacks at various points throughout the day. This will be happening from 9 a.m. to noon.
  • Social Media Challenge – Students and staff are encouraged to post an Instagram photo or video about their contribution for RAK day with the hashtag: #BrockRAK. There will be a $20 gift card for General Brock awarded to the best Instagram post.
  • Chalking – Positive messages will be written in chalk around the Bus Terminal underneath Schmon Tower.
  • Posters – Posters will be put up noting various “helpful hints” and ideas for kind acts individuals can perform at specific locations. For example, a poster at Tim Hortons will read “RAK day helpful hint- buy a coffee for the person behind you!”
  • Goodman School of Business will be spreading kindness to business students on campus
  • A-Z Learning Services is running a thank-you card making station in Market Hall for students to utilize. There will be pre-made cards as well as supplies to create your own. This will be running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m
  • Brock Student Alumni Association is setting up a table in the main lobby from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 4 to distribute hot chocolate, donuts as well as ‘words of kindness’ notes to students.
  • BUSU will be delivering roses between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to the first 50 people who tweet the location and name of someone they would like to get a rose on campus. They will be collaborating with the Street Team and Student Life to give free high fives and hand out chocolate bars with positive messages to students. There will also be a scavenger hunt for geofilters on Snapchat for a chance to win two Toronto Maple Leafs Tickets.

Random Acts of Kindness Day is a region-wide initiative in partnership with the Niagara Community Foundation and a number of other organizations.
