Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to come out on Oct. 18 to hear Brock English professor Barbara Seeber and her Queen’s counterpart Maggie Berg talk about their best-selling book, The Slow Professor.
A special reading and discussion of the book will take place that day from 2 to 4 pm in Thistle 253, an event organized by Brock’s Social Justice Research Institute (SJRI) and the James A. Gibson Library.
Last spring Seeber and Berg published their collaborative effort — which takes a critical look at what the witers call the “corporatization of higher education” — then watched as it received strong reviews on both sides of the Atlantic, sold out its first editions and generated mainstream discussion and sales figures not often seen by academic authors.
The Oct. 18 reading and discussion will be followed by a reception sponsored by the SJRI. To help organizers plan the event, anyone planning to attend is asked to send an RSVP to sjri@brocku.ca
