PODCAST: Students invited to special presentation by visiting scholar Dr. Bernd Scherer

Good Morning Goodman podcast hosts Susan LeBlanc and Lauren Smith talk about what’s happening at the Goodman School of Business this week.

On Wednesday, Sept. 28, students can attend a special presentation given by visiting scholar Dr. Bernd Scherer from WU Vienna.

Dr. Scherer is both a widely published scholar and managing director at Deutche Bank in Frankfurt, Germany. He will talk to students about making the move from the world of academia to industry.

Applications are now open for the Ontario Graduate Scholarship worth up to $15,000 to be used toward graduate programs at Goodman. There is an information session being held Thursday, Sept. 22 at 1:30 p.m. in Pond Inlet to learn more about this opportunity.

The Goodman School of Business is once again sponsoring teams of students to attend both Queen’s University’s Inter-Collegiate Business Competition and Grossman School of Business’s Global Family Enterprise Case Competition. Details on both of these competitions have been emailed to all undergraduate Goodman students.

Today marks the start of trading in the popular Investment Challenge for Charity hosted by the Brock Finance and Investment Group (BFIG) at Goodman, a student-run organization made up of focused undergraduate students interested in finance who actively manage a portfolio in excess of $15,000 and attend and compete in finance-related events and competitions. The Investment Challenge has a $20 price tag with proceeds going to the Niagara Community Foundation. The registration fee gives participants access to an investment simulation with a $100,000 portfolio they can manage over six weeks.

Students interested in marketing can apply to be an ambassador at the Brock Marketing Association (BMA) at Goodman until Sept. 30. BMA allows students to gain marketing experience by creating and executing campaigns for organizations in Niagara.
