Student car share service ceases operations

The Brock University Students’ Union Wednesday was notified that Student Car Share, the company that provides Brock’s on-campus car share program has ceased operations and has gone out of business.

BUSU General Manager Chris Green said it was a surprising development to the students’ union.

“We were in negotiations with them to extend their service agreement and had no indication that this was a possibility,” he said. “We have reached out to the operators of the service to get information on next steps, but communication has not been forthcoming with information. We will be taking the necessary steps to ensure that students are not affected moving forward.”

BUSU plans to look for a new provider for car sharing services at Brock University. In the meantime, Green said BUSU would like to hear from any Student Car Share members that had purchased memberships. Anyone who received free memberships during promotional periods are not asked to reach out. But those who bought memberships should contact Green at cgreen@busu.net.
