Bus trip and viewing party planned for Badgers basketball playoff game

The Brock Badgers men’s basketball team is hitting the road to Ottawa for a playoff game against Carleton Saturday night.

After beating Laurier in the first round Wednesday night at home, the Badgers, ranked eighth in the nation, now face the No. 1 Carleton Ravens in the Ontario University Athletics quarter-final match.

Badgers fans will have two ways to watch the showdown — either in person as part of a fan bus experience, or via a viewing party in the Sean O’Sullivan Theatre at Brock.

A busload of Badger fans will hit the road to support the team Saturday. The trip costs $20 including a ticket to the game, and leaves Brock at 1 p.m. Saturday. The bus leaves downtown Ottawa to return home at 11 a.m. Sunday, so riders will be responsible for finding their own accommodations in Ottawa for the night. Fans can register for the trip at the Walker Complex welcome desk.

Can’t make the trip to Ottawa? There will also be a viewing party where students, faculty, staff and the community can watch the game live in the Sean O’Sullivan Theatre.

Doors for the viewing party open at 7:00 p.m. and the game begins at 8 p.m. The nearby Guernsey Market will remain open until 9:30 p.m. and will have pizza, hot dogs, popcorn, soft drinks and other snacks available, which will be allowed in the theatre for this special occasion.

There’s no cost to attend the viewing party, and some prizes will be up for grabs throughout the night.
