Diaspora Inter-Crossings Speaker Series continues Jan. 12.

Brock’s Diaspora Inter-Crossings Speaker Series will kick off 2016 with a visit from Jamaican Canadian author Pamela Mordecai.

Mordecai will speak about plotting real space and real time in her 2015 novel, Red Jacket, which has been shortlisted for the Rogers Writer’s Trust Fiction Prize.

The novel follows characters moving between Africa, the Caribbean and North America while their private lives play out against the context of the major natural, geo-political and social events of the 1960s and 1970s.

The event will take place Tuesday, Jan. 12 in the Sankey Chamber from noon to 1:30 p.m.
