Fire drills planned over next few weeks

Brock University will be undergoing a number of fire drills in the next few weeks.

The Ontario Fire Code requires the university to conduct fire drills for virtually all buildings on campus, including the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts.

A series of two to three drills will be held daily starting this week and running to Oct. 15. Exact dates for the drills will not be divulged and like a traditional fire alarm, they can happen at any time.

During the drills, the fire alarm system will be activated and officials will observe the evacuation and compile a report for the St. Catharine’s fire department, who may also be onsite during the drills providing assistance.

The drills will coincide with Fire Safety Week, however to limit the disruption, the evacuations will be spread out over eight days.

Other than the normal evacuation procedures, there is no additional actions required of occupants. Here is a link http://brocku.ca/hr-ehs/environment-health-safety/life-safety that contains evacuation procedures for those who might want to freshen up on the procedures.
