Brock University is saddened by the sudden passing of Professor John Hugh Walker at his home in Hamilton, Ont.
Walker joined Brock in 2000 as an assistant professor, becoming a full professor in 2012. In the Goodman School of Business, he taught information systems, multivariate statistics, operations management and quantitative methods for business at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
He held an MBA and a PhD in management science and information systems from McMaster University, a BSc (honours) in chemistry from University of Waterloo and a Bachelor of Education from Brock University.
A prolific researcher, Walker worked in disciplines ranging from medicine to entrepreneurship in developing and eastern European countries. He also consulted for the pharmaceutical industry, providing economic and statistical analyses primarily associated with clinical trials.
He was a popular teacher, an avid swimmer and scuba diver, and contributed much to the Goodman School and to the University, including having served on several Senate committees. He is survived by his wife, two sons, and three brothers.
I will always remember you.

Sad news. I took Operations with Professor Walker and he was an encyclopedia of information, not to mention a true mentor to all of us who were lucky enough to go through his classes. He made Brock a better place. Condolences to his family. RIP Professor Walker.
So sad to hear this. As with all faculty, I worked with John in the School of Business on all things computer related in the early 2000s. He was always very personable and definitely had a fondness of embracing technology in business solutions. May he rest peacefully.
Extremely sad news concerning Dr. Walker’s passing. It was an honour to receive first class education from this brilliant professional. He was a great teacher, researcher and friend. My condolences to his family during this difficult time. RIP.
I still remembered his smile and joke. Even after finishing his management of operation course, he greeted me with a happy face. It is a sad news for everyone
RIP Dr. John Walker. You’ll truly be missed.
Prof. Walker did very well in explaining multivariate statisitics to business students, and illustrating its practicality. He was more importantly a decent and genuine man who showed concern for student success, with a unique sense of humour. It is with sadness that I hear this news, and condolences to hs family on the loss of a fine man.
So very sad.Condolences to his family and to the Brock community for their loss.
