Bold new Brock News launched

The new Brock News has officially arrived.

After months of planning and programming, the bold new Brock News launched Thursday afternoon.

The site offers an improved experience for readers with a cleaner look, more defined news categories and the ability to embed rich multimedia content such as YouTube videos and interactive images.

One of the highlights is the Seen & Heard section, which allows readers to submit a photo and information about the goings on around campus. After being approved by the editors, posts will be published on The Brock News site.

“It allows us to get a lot more campus events into The Brock News that didn’t necessarily fit into our other categories in the previous website design,” said Kevin Cavanagh, Director, Communications and Public Affairs. “It’s a great way to let people across campus be part of the content gathering.”

The new website was designed to meet Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act web standards.

As part of the re-launch, The Brock News also has fresh branding with a new red and black logo and an updated font.

“The clean design, attractive visual components and logical content categories really take it to the next level as a news media platform,” Cavanagh said.

The Brock News is published by the Office of University Marketing and Communications and serves faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends of the University. Similar to a daily print publication, the site is updated daily with the latest news, feature stories and event coverage from across Brock University.

If you have an event or story you would like to see appear in The Brock News, contact campusnews@brocku.ca or phone 905-688-5550 x4420.
