On Sunday, 2,300 of 2,400 students moved into residence during the annual move-in day. The event, which also kicked off O-Week festivities, went smoothly thanks to the many people who played a role in getting thousands of students settled in their new digs, said Jamie Fleming, director of residences.
“Again this year, we had tremendous support from a very large number of student volunteers from clubs and groups, IceBreakers and varsity teams, who were mostly co-ordinated through BUSU,” Fleming said. “Also, we had assistance from the students on SMARTstart, Student Life and Community Experience, residence life staff, peer mentors, the residence action council and BUSU executives, which is always very much appreciated.”
Though the day was free of major glitches, Fleming said the event is reviewed each year to find ways to improve the move-in process and ensure it continues running smoothly in the future. Take, for example, that move-in day happened on Sunday this year rather than the usual Labour Day.
For that reason, Fleming seeking feedback about this latest edition of move-in day.
