On Friday night, Sept. 27, Brock will host the 2013 Niagara Classic preseason basketball showdown, as the men’s and women’s Badgers take on their cross-region counterparts, the Niagara College Knights.
The games are part of the fourth annual Peninsula Hoops Classic. Proceeds go to the United Way, and $7,000 has been raised since 2010.
But this year there’s a little something extra riding on it.
Brian Hutchings, Brock’s VP of Finance and Administration, has a wager with Sean Kennedy, VP of Student and External Relations at Niagara College. They both stand to lose some face and cash, but for a good cause.
If Niagara wins both games, Hutchings will wear a Niagara College shirt at Brock for a day, and also wear it to a Board of Trustees meeting. He will also pony up $100 to the United Way.
If the Badgers win both games, Kennedy must do the same from his end.
And if there’s a split in the games, neither wears a shirt – but both will make the $100 donation.
