A fire alarm temporarily closed the Mackenzie Chown complex and Taro Hall this afternoon.

The alarm was activated and the areas evacuated. This was caused by a problem that occurred in a control component in the elevator machine room located on the roof of Mackenzie Chown B.

St. Catharines Fire Department responded, and after investigation and verification authorized the reset of the fire alarm system and reopening of the buildings.
