The world is coming to Brock this summer.

From July 15 to the 21, the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation will host the first-ever Women’s U25 World Wheelchair Basketball Championships here.

The event, which is a milestone in the ongoing growth of international wheelchair basketball, is co-hosted by Wheelchair Basketball Canada and Brock.

“Brock University is proud to be a part of this inaugural international tournament,” said Steven Pillar, Vice-President Finance and Administration. “This event represents an incredible opportunity for our students, our community, and our country. We look forward to hosting the games and welcoming the world to our University this summer.”

Eight countries are participating in the tournament: Australia, Canada, Germany, Great Britain, Japan, Mexico, South Africa and the United States.

“For the first time in the history of our sport, we get to showcase the talents of these elite young female wheelchair basketball athletes in a world-class championship,” said Wendy Gittins, event co-chair and executive director of Wheelchair Basketball Canada.

The tournament’s website is primary source for the latest news, event information, ticketing, team rosters, schedules and game results.

The site features a comprehensive social media hub with exclusive access to videos, photo galleries, contests, polls, and athlete blogs.
