Niagara youth to compete in Jumpstart Games at Brock

Canadian Tire Financial Services (CTFS) and Brock will team up on Saturday to host Jumpstart Day and the first-ever Canadian Tire Jumpstart Games at the University.

One hundred youth from three Niagara-area not-for-profit agencies will compete in 10 activities to celebrate Jumpstart Day and put the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Kids Activity Kit to the test. Participating local agencies include:

  • YMCA of Niagara — Leader Corps
  • Niagara Peninsula Children’s Centre
  • the Resource Association for Teens’ (RAFT) after school programs

The Canadian Tire Jumpstart Kids Activity Kit is a new program developed by Canadian Tire Jumpstart that provides an innovative solution for communities and non-profit partners that lack proper sporting equipment.

The kit is packed with equipment that can be used for indoor and outdoor activities — none of which require specialized facilities. It can also be customized based on a community’s needs and include items that a wide range of ages and skills can use, such as basketballs, yoga mats, soccer balls, footballs, rugby balls, compasses and flags for orienteering, ultimate Frisbees and volleyballs.

CTFS is also hosting its sixth Canadian Tire Jumpstart Gala in the evening. CTFS’s goal is to help more than 10,000 kids in 485 communities across Canada.
