Brock awarded $220,000 for augmented reality project

Brock has been awarded $220,000 by the Ontario Media Development Corp. for its Ontario Augmented Reality Network (OARN).

The project is led by Kevin Kee, Canada Research Chair of Humanities Computing and an associate professor at Brock.

“This announcement allows us to move ahead and build a network for all the people working in augmented reality. That was lacking until now,” he said.

“The business side was always interested. Now we can marry research with commercialization.”

The OARN is a unique collaboration of universities, private-sector developers, cultural agencies, trade associations, local government and business generators dedicated to building and expanding the Augmented Reality Applications sector across Ontario. It has a total budget of $360,000.
