Ana Sanchez, associate professor of Community Health Sciences, has been appointed as co-chair of the “Capacity Development Program Area” (CDPA) of the Canadian Coalition for Global Health Research (CCGHR). She will jointly co-chair the CDPA with Prof. Donald Cole, Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto.
She also participated in the following global health events:
- She was invited by World Health Organizations’ Special Programme in Research and Training in Tropical Diseases [(TDR), UNDP/UNICEF/World Bank/WHO] to participate in two international events: the Third International Conference on Neglected Zoonotic Diseases: Community-based interventions for prevention and control of NZD, and a stratetegic planning meeting of the committee she serves on, the Disease Reference Group for Zoonoses and marginalised infectious diseases, ZOOM-IN. Both events were held in Geneva from Nov. 23 to 26. Sanchez is part of the think-tank of international experts assisting the WHO with the Global Report for Research on Infectious Diseases of Poverty scheduled for launch in 2011. - Sanchez and Esteban Chaves, associate professor, University of Costa Rica University were invited as co-facilitators to the 2nd Annual Learning Forum on Global Health Research Using Knowledge for Program Planning and Implementation, organized by The Canadian Coalition for Global Health Research. They facilitated the workshop “Combating Infectious Disease through Knowledge Translation.” This event was held on Oct. 29 to 31 in Ottawa. - She was invited as facilitator in the 7th Summer Institute for New Global Health Researchers in Quito, Ecuador on July 4 to 12.
