Avid and fairweather readers are invited to a new book club for faculty and staff.
The club, organized through the Brock Wellness committee, will meet once a month to discuss a popular fiction or non-fiction book, said organizer Diana Panter, committee member and publications and convocations events assistant in the Office of the Registrar.
The purpose is to establish more social groups on campus and give people a venue to get to know each other, Panter said.
Book clubs are fun because of the camaraderie involved, she said.
“It’s about forming bonds with people who you regularly wouldn’t have contact with and sharing a common interest,” she said.
The club will meet in the Campus Store, which will sell and feature that month’s selection. The group will be low stress, Panter said.
“If you’re unable to read the book, that’s OK. If you’re unable to make it to the meeting, that’s OK,” she said.
The first meeting will be Sept. 28 from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the Campus Store. Anyone interested in joining can email brockwellness@brocku.ca. There is also a Facebook group.
