Canada’s most famous chef, TV celebrity Michael Smith, will come to Brock this autumn to oversee the cooking when more than 200 guests gather for General Brock’s October Soirée.
This year, the black-tie soirée will take place Saturday, Oct. 16 in The Market, the stylish and spacious new dining facility on Brock’s main campus in St. Catharines.
Smith will craft the menu, conduct food preparation and join in the festivities. Smith is an award-winning cookbook author and culinary journalist. He is also known to millions as host of the Food Network’s Chef at Home, Chef at Large and Chef Abroad.
Smith’s participation in Soirée was facilitated by the fact he is also Official Ambassador of Sodexo Canada, which is Brock’s official food provider.
The soirée is a fundraising gala held each autumn to commemorate the university’s namesake Major-General Sir Isaac Brock. It is a modern celebration interwoven with themes of 1812-13, when Brock commanded British troops in the War of 1812. Now in its third year, the soirée has raised more than $150,000 to support the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts and other strategic priorities at Brock.
This year’s event will feature musical interludes from a piano bar as well as interactive performances by students from the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts. Tickets are $200 each, and tables of eight are available.
