University officials ordered the evacuation of Brock’s Schmon Tower around 2 p.m. Wednesday after it swayed briefly during an earth tremor.
Staff who work in the tower and the University Library were sent home for the rest of the day while officials prepared to do a floor-by-floor inspection of the 14-storey structure. The Library and Learning Commons are closed for the rest of the day.
The rest of the University remains open, and any classes for today will be held as scheduled.
There were no reports of damage, and it is expected the tower will be open for business as usual on Thursday morning. The Walker Complex has re-opened.

The tremor felt in Niagara was the result of a 5.0 magnitude earthquake which was centred in rural Quebec at 1:41 p.m. Wednesday.
