About 1,500 people know more about fitness, nutrition, heart disease and stress relief after a visit to the Ian Beddis Gymnasium on Monday.

The crowd was there for the Health Fair, an annual event held by Brock’s Student Health Services. There were nearly 100 interactive displays open to faculty, staff, students and community members. There was also a flu vaccination clinic co-ordinated by Niagara Region Public Health.

“Today’s been very successful,” said Melodie Shick-Porter, director of Student Health Services. “We had a lot of comments from exhibitors about how interested everyone has been, and the feedback from students has been very positive.”

In addition to on-campus departments like Recreation Services, the displays represented community organizations like the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Osteoporosis Canada and the Niagara Region Sexual Assault Centre. Some displays were created and staffed by Brock students, who were graded on their efforts.
