Get a flu shot. Pose health questions to an expert. Get a free massage, or assess your overall fitness level.

That’s just a little of what you can do at the upcoming Health Fair at Brock University on Monday, Nov. 7.

The annual Student Health Services event will encourage people to “Ask an Expert,” said director Melodie Shick-Porter.

“We’ll have doctors, nurses, counselors, chiropractors,” Shick-Porter said. “We’ll have information on issues like diabetes, cancer and athletic therapy. We want to encourage staff, faculty, students and the community to ask experts, evaluate their own health and get the latest information.”

The flu clinic is co-ordinated by Student Health Services, Human Resources and Environment, Health and Safety and Niagara Region Public Health. The clinic, which runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., is free and open to the public, as is the health fair in general.

Five massage therapy students and a professor will be on hand from Trillium College, as well as Brock’s on-campus massage therapist. They will offer free 10-minute massages.

Other topics include stress management, anxiety, depression, addiction and more. There will be nearly 100 interactive displays.

“We’ll feature current information on all the dimensions of health,” Shick-Porter said.

Brock faculty, staff and students have the option to pre-register an appointment for a flu shot. No registration is required for the general public.

The health fair is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Ian Beddis Gymnasium.
