Policing and Criminal Justice is no longer accepting new applicants to the program. The following is for the informatiion of current Policing and Criminal Justice Students only.

The Policing and Criminal Justice program involves courses offered through Brock and Niagara College of Applied Arts and Technology. This four-year program combines training in policing and criminal justice with an education in a chosen academic discipline, which may be Political Science, Psychology or Sociology. Depending on the academic discipline the student chooses to major in, the program leads to either a 4-year BA with Major or to a BA (Honours). The student also receives a diploma in Police Foundations from Niagara College. A minimum 70 percent average is required to be considered for admission to the program. Volunteering experience is considered an asset. Successful applicants must maintain a minimum 70 percent average during year 2 and meet other program requirements to continue in the program. Enrolment in this program is limited. Admission to the program is not guaranteed by attainment of the minimum requirements.

During years 1, 2 and 4 of the program, students take courses at Brock University. During year 3, students complete the Police Foundations Accelerated Program, taking courses at Niagara College. In addition to taking a variety of courses in topic areas such as Criminal and Civil Law, Interviewing and Investigations, Provincial Offenses, and Fitness/Lifestyle Management, students engage in required practical volunteer work.

Students will normally apply for admission to the program following the successful completion of year 1 courses, as specified below. Applicants must have a minimum 70 percent overall average to be considered for admission to the program and must have no more than 8.0 overall credits, at least 4.0 of which must have been earned at Brock. Volunteering experience is an asset. Successful applicants must maintain an overall B average during year 2 and meet other program requirements to continue in the program and to enter the Police Foundations Accelerated Program at Niagara College.
