At Youth University (YU) our elementary school and secondary school day programs offer a variety of themes that are relevant to today’s learning in an experiential and innovative way.

Our day programs offer up to 6 hours of programming, facilitated by University student mentors. These programs are highly active, filled with activities and workshops that foster creative thinking, problem solving skills, and innovation. We offer a variety of programs for both elementary and secondary students.

Day Trip for Elementary Students

Day trips for elementary school

Our school day programs explore a theme tailored to your students’ learning while also building problem-solving skills, creative thinking, and innovation. These programs are fully facilitated, active and hands on, and engaging for all learners. These trips are suitable for grades 4-8.

Leadership

Whether you’re hoping to build a sense of teamwork and community, or celebrating the end of a great year, our community building program allows you to work together to overcome challenges in our team building activities, games and low ropes. Students will leave with stronger bonds, greater self-awareness and the tools to be not only a great leader but a team player!

Science Workshops (May and June Only)

Experience a taste of post-secondary life as you and your classmates experiment through our various science workshops. Watch how chemicals react, experiment with electricity and circuits, and learn about sustainable resources.

Technology Workshops

Calling all innovators! Embrace that creative control as you work through our various maker space workshops. Use single frame animation technique to bring a story to life with mixed media in our stop motion workshop, explore our 3D modeling software to design your own take home creation with our 3-D pens, put your coding skills to the test, and learn the basics of designing and creating a video game with our game design software.

What type of leader are you? Find out during a day of overcoming challenges, problem-solving and new experiences. Begin your day working together through our team-building initiatives and activities. Challenge yourself and support others as you work through our low ropes challenge. Spend the afternoon reaching new heights as you experience our climbing adventure course, featuring our high ropes elements and climbing tower. Leave having stepped out of your comfort zone to learn something new about yourself.
