The Department of Community Health Sciences offers four year programs of study leading to a BA honours in Community Health, Child Health and a BA honours in Workplace Health with a Workplace Health Co-op option, a BSc honours in Health Sciences, an honours BSc in Nursing, a BSc with a Major in Health Sciences, a three year BA pass degree and a BSc in Nursing degree completion program.

The BA programs in Community Health Sciences focus on community health and wellness with an emphasis on health promotion and assessment as well as program development and evaluation. Students are prepared for careers in public health, and postgraduate study in a wide range of health related areas.

In all degrees a core of Community Health Sciences courses is supplemented by a broad choice of electives.

Program Notes
  1. To proceed to year 2, students must achieve a minimum grade of 60 percent in CHSC 1F90 and one of CHSC 1P99, COSC 1P90 or 1P98 and have submitted a declaration to major.
  2. To proceed to year 4 (honours) BA Community Health students must have a minimum 70 percent major average and submit an Application for Year 4 Studies available from the Office of the Registrar.
  3. At least one credit each year must be taken outside the Department of Community Health Sciences.
  4. In all 20 credit degree programs, at least 12 credits must be numbered 2(alpha)00 or above, six of which must be numbered 2(alpha)90 or above and of these, three must be numbered 3(alpha)90 or above. In all 15 credit degree programs, at least seven credits must be numbered 2(alpha)00 or above, three of which must be numbered 2(alpha)90 or above.

Pass Program

Satisfactory completion of the first three years of the honours program entitles a student to apply for a pass degree.
