Course Schedule Information

Understanding the course schedule and how to register in your cohort.

You will find two course schedules posted at various times of the year; one for the Fall and Winter Sessions (September to April) and one for the Spring and Summer Terms (May to August).  All Graduate Students will attend courses all year.

You will see that various cohorts and years are listed under each course schedule. To know what to register in, simply find your cohort with the year you entered and your courses will be listed.

Please pay special note to the Duration and Sections numbers as these will correspond to the registration timetable in your student self-serve.  The Registrar’s timetable does not always list our locations as many are off campus.

It is important that you know your duration and section number as you cannot reliably use the location as your point of reference when registering.

When you register, simply match the code you will find on our website with the drop-down options in your student self-serve.

You must register in your cohort.  If you register in the wrong cohort you will be deregistered from the course and late registration fees will apply when you correct your cohort registration. You may also find that you have affected your course sequencing and it may cause delays or problems with your graduation.

If you have any questions, please contact our Department prior to registering in the course.

Understanding the Course Schedule Codes

Example: ADST 5F65 (this is the course code, ‘F’ indicates a two-term course, ‘P’ indicates a single term course) D13 (this is the Duration) S1 (this is the Section Number); therefore, ADST 5F60 D13 S1 is to be read: ADST 5F60 will run a full two terms, it is classified in Duration 13, and this particular course is Section 1.

  • D4   – Runs May to August
  • D13 – Runs September to April
  • D10 – Runs September to December
  • D11 – Runs January to April

As our courses run primarily on weekends (Full Time students may have to attend courses during the week), we run weekend hours. In the fall our courses will traditionally run on the following schedule:

Start and end times may vary – please consult the individual course schedule.

  • Saturdays: 9am to 4pm (with a break for lunch)
  • Sundays: 9am to 12pm

In the summer, we reduce the number of weekends per course but increase the hours:

  • Saturdays: 9am to 4pm (with a break for lunch)
  • Sundays: 9am to 4pm (with a break for lunch)

Class times may vary course-to-course, so it is wise to always consult with your instructor or the Department prior to the beginning of term if you are unsure.

If you fall out of sequence by taking a leave of absence, inactive term, or simply register incorrectly, it is up to you to seek advising from the programme to ensure you are registering correctly.  Please contact the Department well in advance of registration to make sure you are registering in the correct course each term.
