Student Accessibility Services provides services and supports for Brock students with documented disabilities in accordance with Brock University policy, the Ontario Human Right Code, and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
Brock University policy
Policies regarding the accommodation of students experiencing functional limitations because of a disability or ongoing health or mental health condition have been developed in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Guidelines and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act to ensure all students are fully included in the university experience.
Ontario Human Rights Code
Brock University is committed to fostering a community where all persons have equitable access to education and the opportunities it provides in an environment that is accessible, respects the rights, dignity, confidentiality, and self-esteem of all students, and promotes inclusivity, equality, and understanding.
The Ontario Human Rights Code stipulates that every person has a right to equal treatment with respect to services, goods, and facilities, and to occupancy of accommodation and employment without discrimination because of disability (I.1, I.2, I.5, 2008). The University, in accordance with its legal obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code, will make every reasonable effort to provide both an accessible environment and appropriate support services for students.
Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act
Brock University strives to undertake reasonable efforts to provide University goods, services or facilities in a way that respects the dignity and independence of persons with disabilities. We are also committed to providing persons with disabilities the same opportunity to access University goods, services, or facilities and allowing them to benefit from the same services, in the same place and in a similar way as that given to other persons.
