Adults

Adult workshops and studio programs are designed for beginner through intermediate artists ages 18+ and are delivered in a creative & supportive environment by passionate instructors.

Exploring a variety of media, Rodman Hall offers programs in painting (acrylics & watercolours) drawing, printmaking and mixed media techniques. Specialized workshops are offered seasonally and feature art & fine craft techniques like textile arts and bookbinding. The limited class size for all Adult Programs allows for personalized one-on-one instruction. Lessons change each time a class is offered, so returning participants are always welcomed. Class fees include materials unless otherwise specified.

CANDACE COUSE

Instructing:
Painting: Introduction to Water-Soluble Oils | #27058

Candace has been working as a practicing artist at the national and international level for the past twelve years. Her practice focuses on painting,  textile and video work, which has been included in numerous gallery shows across Canada, the USA, UK, Switzerland, Italy and India. She has been teaching, leading workshops and conducting research for the past 7 years and teaches at Brock University in the Visual Arts Department. Candace earned her MFA from The University of Calgary. She is currently working towards her PHD at Brock in the field of Interdisciplinary Humanities.

KRISTEN NEUDORF

Instructing:
Drawing to Painting: Introduction to Portraiture | #27059

Kristen is both an Artist and Educator who works across a range of diverse media including painting, drawing, sculpture and print-making. She received her  Masters of Art Education from the Academy of Art University,  San Francisco and her Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) from the University of Guelph.  Kristen’s artwork is reflection of her personal experiences and emotions. She has exhibited in both North America and abroad including Gallery NONA in Brisbane Australia, the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco California, and the Zavitz Gallery in Guelph Ontario.  Her work is also held in private collections.

ROBIN NISBET

Instructing:
Painting: Acrylics In-Depth | # 27057

Robin is an Artist and Educator who works across a diverse range of mediums including  painting, illustration, photography, sculpture and digital. The layers of acrylic which bring life to her  paintings, mirror the layers of life experience which are reflected in her work. Robin holds a degree in Studio Arts from Brock University. Her paintings have been exhibited in Trinidad and Ontario and she has received numerous awards for her work in Graphic Design.

JANA SIMMS-BERGSMA

Jana is a local artist who specializes in scenic painting. Besides teaching for Rodman Hall she also paints scenery for the Shaw Festival and other local theatre companies. She received her BA in studio art from McMaster University and is currently focusing on a series of large paintings based on St. Catharines. In her  personal work she enjoys integrating forms of drawing and printmaking.

 

      

NANCY NIGH

Instructing:

Nancy is a textile artist and visual artist located in St. Catharines. Besides her interest in felting, Nancy is an accomplished artist and instructor of quilting techniques who also enjoys painting, drawing and photography.

 

    

MICHELLE NICHOLLS

ART EDUCATOR | Program Development and Management

As the Art Educator at Rodman Hall, Michelle Nicholls coordinates and organizes public programming, outreach, art education classes and camps, Gallery Tours and School Programs. She is an Educator and Artist and enjoys teaching all ages. She holds a bachelors degree in Education from Brock University and is also a graduate of the Visual Arts Honours Program at Brock. Michelle also holds a Graphic Design Diploma from Niagara College. In her personal work she is interested in many art forms including painting, drawing, printmaking, bookbinding and animation.
