Lifestyle and Learning Communities

We offer both lifestyle and living learning communities (LLCs) for students.  Students in a Lifestyle Community request a substance-free or cannabis-free area to live.  A Living Learning Community (LLC) is the integration of students who share similar interests, such as an academic subject or non-academic area of interest, into a residence community with intensive programming and support from various areas within the institution.

2021-2022 Lifestyle Communities

Substance-free Areas

Residence has designated substance-free areas (e.g. floors, halls, units, houses). Students living in these areas, including their guests and/or visitors, are not permitted to possess and/or consume any substance [alcohol, cannabis] in the designated substance-free areas.

Cannabis-free Areas

Residence has designated cannabis-free areas in each residence building (e.g. floors, halls, units houses) and these areas may co-exist with substance-free areas based on student requests. Students living in these areas, including their guests and/or visitors are not permitted to possess cannabis. Consumption of cannabis is not permitted anywhere on the Brock campus.

Important: When completing the residence application, a student should indicate their interest in a cannabis-free or substance-free area.  There is no additional cost to live in Lifestyle Community.

LLC Peer Mentoring

Each community has a dedicated upper-year peer mentor who will plan events and provide support to the participants to ensure a strong and exciting community is maintained all year. However, it’s truly the students who make these communities a success.
